“Al-Quds Open University and the [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs held a graduation ceremony yesterday [Oct. 28, 2018] for prisoners Jamal Abd Al-Salam As’ad Abd Al-Salam (sic., apparently refers to terrorist Jamal Abd Al-Salam As’ad Abu Al-Hija, terrorist, involved in murder of 9) and Muhannad Talal Mansour Shreim (i.e., terrorist, involved in murder of 30). The ceremony was held… under the auspices and in the presence of Chairman of the [Al-Quds Open University] Board of Governors Adnan Samarah.
Present at the ceremony were Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Qadri Abu Bakr and [Al-Quds Open] University President Dr. Younes Amr…
Samarah said in a speech that he gave at the ceremony… that ‘We must reward a man who has sacrificed for his homeland, and we – as a national educational institution – will provide an education to the prisoners…’
Abu Bakr emphasized that Al-Quds Open University is the university of the entire Palestinian people, and noted that approximately 1,000 prisoners are currently registered at the university and are studying there for a bachelor’s degree.
Dr. Amr… noted that the university is celebrating the completion of the studies of two of the prisoner knights… and they are Jamal Abd Al-Salam As’ad Abd Al-Salam, who is serving a life sentence, and knight Muhannad Talal Mansour Shreim, who is serving a similar sentence.”
