"Secretary-General of the [Palestinian] Popular Struggle Front and PLO Executive Committee member Ahmed Majdalani… said in a statement: ‘The blatant American interference in states’ affairs, as is happening in Venezuela, is a direct continuation of the policy of [US President Donald] Trump’s administration, whose goal is to usurp the will of the peoples.’ He added that the principle of states’ sovereignty and non-interference in their internal affairs is a democratic diplomatic norm, and that the coup attempt against the legitimacy of elected [Venezuelan] President Nicolás Maduro (Maduro’s reelection in 2018 is not recognized by most of the international community, and the US and others have encouraged support for the opposition leader; see note below –Ed.) is worthy of condemnation, at a time when the entire world is calling for freedom and democracy, while the Trump administration is acting with ‘political arrogance.’ Majdalani continued: ‘We are the greatest victims of the policy of the Trump administration, which has proven to the entire world that it does not protect human rights or democracy, but rather is acting as if it is the world’s policeman that wants to impose agendas, take over peoples’ resources, and steal their freedom.’"
